About Item Enhancements

Weapon enchants are the premium end of this market. They are effectively required for endgame play and reapplied with every weapon upgrade, so demand renews continuously rather than only at patch boundaries. Armor-slot enchants ride the same cycle at lower intensity: every new piece of gear in a slot is another sale for that slot's enchant.

How disenchanting, scrolls and editions shape enchant prices, 2 paragraphs

Enchanters make nearly everything here from disenchanted materials, so this market runs one step behind gear. When players replace gear faster, disenchanting supplies more material and enchant prices soften; when gearing slows between tiers, supply tightens and enchant floors rise. Demand splits by edition: the classic editions keep their era's formulas, while Retail brings a new system each expansion.

Enchants reach the auction house as scrolls, cast onto a vellum and posted like any other item. A scroll competes with the same enchant sold as a service in trade chat, so it rarely strays far above materials plus a convenience premium. Editions from before vellums keep enchanting a service trade, so their shelf here is thinner.
