Profession Equipment

Profession equipment — the tools and accessories characters equip to work their trades — became auction-house items with the modern crafting system. Every profession has its own small shelf here, from blacksmithing hammers to fishing accessories.

The catalog groups profession equipment by trade: enchanting, fishing, mining, blacksmithing, herbalism, skinning, inscription, engineering, alchemy, jewelcrafting, leatherworking, tailoring, and cooking each carry their own tool and accessory list. Each entry shows the piece's name, item level, required level, and quality tier. Fishing poles are the shelf's oldest residents, trading since long before the modern loadout existed.

Tool prices track the crafting meta rather than the combat meta. When a profession's output is in demand — consumables before a raid tier, crafted gear at a patch launch — the tools that boost that profession's stats rise with it, because crafters treat better tools as an investment that pays back through better results. Off-meta professions keep cheap tools regardless of item level. The modern crafting system is what put this shelf on the auction house at all: every trade gained an equipment loadout of one tool plus accessories, and tool quality feeds crafting stats directly, so two hammers at the same item level can price apart on quality tier alone. Gathering kit prices on time saved instead — a better pick or sickle speeds the farming loop rather than improving the goods.

This is also one of the smallest classes in the catalog by item count, which makes listing depth a live question on every page. Many tools trade a handful of copies per week on smaller realms, so the total-quantity figure on each detail page carries as much information as the price itself — a low price with no depth behind it is not really a market price.

Because crafted tools consume trade goods, this shelf moves with the material markets one step upstream: ore and leather prices flow into finished-tool floors with a visible lag.
