Containers

Containers — bags, reagent bags, herb pouches, enchanting bags, and the other profession-specific carriers — expand a character's inventory. Tailors craft most ordinary bags; the specialty types come from their matching professions and a handful of drops.

The container catalog covers every bag and specialty pouch Blizzard ships in the game data. Each entry shows the container's name, item level, required level, and quality tier, with the subclass column separating ordinary bags from the profession-specific carriers — reagent, enchanting, herb, inscription, leatherworking, mining, engineering, gem, and cooking bags, plus oddities like tackle boxes.

Ordinary bags dwarf every specialty type in volume, and one rule dominates the shelf: the largest bag a tailor can craft at the current cap is a permanent seller, patch after patch. Older, smaller bags trickle down to a floor set by their material cost, which keeps the whole subclass tightly coupled to the cloth market — when cloth moves, bag prices follow within days. Bag demand is also strictly slot-limited — a character buys a few and then stops — so volume comes from new characters, not repeat buyers.

Specialty containers price on scarcity of audience instead. A herb bag only matters to herbalists, an enchanting bag to enchanters — thin demand, thin supply, and charts that stay flat for weeks then step when a single listing clears. The trade these carriers offer is space for restriction: a profession bag holds only its own material family, but at slot counts ordinary bags cannot match, which is why dedicated gatherers pay for them anyway. Classic-edition quivers and ammo pouches belong to this family too: hunter-only carriers from the era when ammunition was a consumable, absent from Retail where the mechanic no longer exists.

Container purchases are infrequent — most characters buy bags a handful of times ever — so the history chart matters more than the current listing here. A one-year view shows whether today's price sits at the material-cost floor or a temporary spike.
